Clown @$$ fool decides to blog about Mecha

What am I doing with my life

If you haven't yet guessed by the theme of the blog, this is another one of my dark themed blogs that promised you yellow and didn't deliver. Yellow's a great colour, but I don't want to be liable if your corneas burn out. Hello and welcome to the Mechis in Yellow, I am your host, Aaron Hilomen, often known by the internet username of Mechis or Mechis42. Yeah, if you teamed with a dude on a CoH private server (Indomitable, to be exact) who had a toon going by the name "Slinks" and the accountname of "Mechis", I do deeply apologize for randomly logging off on ya while level farming, I had to go eat lunch.

Anyways, let's get into the giant robot stuff. When I was a little kid, unlike most dads who'd take their sons to the city to see a marching band, or leave to get some milk, my old man showed me classic films about robots like PatLabor, Short Circuit, and Wall-E. While I watched Wall-E first, it was PatLabor and the Iron Giant that both gave me the adoration for GIANT robots in particular that I have today.

Anyways, that's why I decided to blog about mecha. The journey to giant robots in real life is fascinating at its current state of affairs. We've gone from the General Electrics Beetle, a radiation-proof BEAST of a mecha, to a man duct-taping a snowblower to an advance level piece of cosplay. Intriguing is what it is, and you can expect me to cover things like this later on in the blog.

My current plan for this blog is mainly to keep track of my own progress towards learning about Mecha and attempting my own build, although I'll likely not cover my build all too often around these parts. Other things I'll probably use this blog for is updates about other mecha around the world, little explanations, studies, and summaries of other mecha, updates on mecha pop culture, me roasting other pilots to boost my self esteem, and probably sh*tposts. Likely LOTS of sh*tpost. And maybe if I'm motivated, a bit of mecha art. I'm not sure yet.

If you're wondering about the username, I first made it when I was a really young lad and decided to make a username for an account. I don't exactly remember what for, but I do remember the character limit did not allow for "Mechsarecool42" and thus I shortened it to what it is today. Eventually "Mechis" became the name of a robotic character in a short story I helped pen (you can't find it anywhere, and I'd have to ask a bunch of old friends if I could post it should it ever be made public), and a botched science faire project made of bionicle parts and a Raspberry pi. I might talk about that later if anyone wants to hear about it.

So yeah, thank you for tuning into the Mechis in Yellow. I'll see you in a future blog post. Until then, stay safe, stay hydrated, and stay as sane as possible. I'm going to regret hitting publish in the morning.
